Very rare opportunity to acquire original artwork for the Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams with illustrations by Sir William Nicholson

Provenance Sotheby’s 10^th July 2013 

Ink and slight watercolour drawing, unsigned, mounted on conservation paper, mounted, framed and glazed, some creases and minor staining.  

The drawing was used as the endpapers (and page 3) for Sir William Nicholson's famous 1922 edition of The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams. The DNB notes that Nicholson's 'natural sympathy with children produced work of great charm such as... his illustrations for Margery Williams's The Velveteen Rabbit'. 

This drawing is formerly from the collection of Marguerite Steen who published a work on the painter in 1943
