Mario Villa (1953–2021) was a Nicaraguan-born, New Orleans–based artist whose work spanned sculpture, furniture design, painting, and printmaking. Trained in anthropology at the University of New Orleans and architecture at Tulane University, he brought a deep understanding of form, culture, and craftsmanship to his art. His lithographs, like his broader practice, often blend classical influences with expressive, hand-worked detail, reflecting both his Latin American heritage and the vibrant artistic traditions of New Orleans. Villa’s work is recognised for its versatility and imaginative synthesis of fine art and design.
