Peter Clark finds, folds, and layers recycled paper to sculpt collages of animals, garments, and people. He began focusing on his collage work in 1999 after working as a designer and illustrator. In 2010, he participated in the Holland Paper Biennial at Museum Rijswijk in Apeldoorn, Netherlands. His quirky portraits of dogs are among his most popular works. Highly detailed and precise, his collages are composed of paper sourced from junk yards, garage sales, and flea markets. Clark does not use any paint to create his vibrant compositions, instead carefully forming likenesses using the existing patterns and palettes of his humble materials. The results play with line, shape, and colour and immortalize his subjects with a dose of humour and an abundance of flair.
