She is known for her high standard of accuracy and detail, often painting from live specimens to capture the play of light on flowers and fruit.

Hammond has twice been awarded Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Gold Medals. Her work is held in prestigious collections, including the Shirley Sherwood Collection and the Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation.
