Albert Genta was born into a family of artists. His father was a sculptor and his mother a painter. He studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris where he received classical training in painting.

In the 1920s, he began exhibiting his works at art fairs. He quickly gained notice for his paintings of female nudes. His works were often controversial because of their daring nature. In the 1950s, he began teaching painting at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. He continued to exhibit his works in salons and art galleries until his death in 1989.

Works Albert Genta's work is mainly characterised by his paintings of nude women. His models were often women he met in the street or in Parisian cafes. His paintings are done in oil on canvas. He often uses bright colors and strong contrasts to highlight the shapes of his models. Some of his best-known works include “Nude Seated” (1945) and “Nude Woman Seated on a Bed” (1950).
