Mary Stork
Mary Stork (1938-2007)

was a well-known artist of figurative works, mainly executed in mixed media on paper. She was born in Portsmouth, and studied at the West of England College of Art and later at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, which is where she met her future husband, the artist Jeremy Le Grice. Her paintings were toured with the Arts Council Young Contemporaries shows. The family settled in St Just-in-Penwith in Cornwall, where she was influenced by Karl Weschke and she became close friends with Mary and Rose Hilton. Mary Stork returned to painting full time in the mid 1980s and became a member of the Penwith Society of Artists and of the Newlyn Society of Artists. Later she moved from St Just into the town of Penzance.
