Original watercolour by the listed Indian artist Kanwal Krishna 1910-1993. Signed, dated (19)40 and titled Lhasa to the lower right.
In very good condition, with no fading.
Presented in a modern wooden frame, glazed.

Kanwal Krishna was the first Indian painter who was allowed special permission to attend the coronation of the 14th (current) Dalai Lama, an event he painted and filmed. Kanwal was part of Basil Gould’s delegation to Lhasa to attend the occasion. Kanwal also accompanied the famous Indian nationalist Buddhist scholar Rahul Sankrityayan on his trip to western Tibet in 1936.
