Oil on canvas in continental strectcher. A charming and finely executed Italian School portrait depicting a smiling young Neapolitan boy wearing a blue cap and brightly coloured neck scarf. Painted in oil during the early 20th century, the work captures the warmth and spontaneity associated with Southern Italian genre portraiture of the interwar period. The sitter is portrayed with expressive brushwork and a lively, naturalistic manner, the richly coloured scarf providing a striking contrast against the subdued background. Romanticised depictions of local youths and street figures such as this were popular in Naples and throughout Southern Italy during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, appealing to both domestic and international collectors. Signed to the lower right Condition: Good overall condition with some little rippling to canvas on board. The frame is attractive and offered in good condition, ready to hang.
