Henry Wilkinson was a British painter best known for his sporting dogs and other sporting subjects. He studied first at the Winchester College of Art followed by the Royal College of Art in London. By hard work a place was also gained in the Engraving School, he won various scholarships and diplomas and studied in Germany, France and Italy.

After the war he was elected to the Royal Society of Painter, Etchers, & Engravers, ultimately as a Councillor. For many years he was professor of the Engraving School at the City and Guilds of London. 

For many years he worked with George Vernon Stokes, the famous canine artist, helping him produce his prints.

In 1954 after the death of Stokes, Wilkinson began producing his limited edition etchings of which most were marketed by the publishers H.C.Dickens. The prints were in small editions normally of 150 and Wilkinson hand-signed each engraving.

Both the Etching and the frame are in very good condition.
