This is likely later 17th and artwork for an engraving, the image depicts the Conversion of Saint Paul. The original was an oil painting by the Flemish artist Peter Paul Rubens from around 1621.
The scene illustrates the biblical story of Saul (later Paul), a Roman soldier who persecuted Christians, falling from his horse and being blinded by a divine light on the road to Damascus.
The work is set at night to enhance the dramatic effect of Christ appearing among the clouds.
The drawing has been laid onto a thin backing card, almost certainly in the late 18th century and the reverse has an ownership inscription for a Mr Hooper
