This is a  very good quality oil on canvas in its original carved frame from 1888 of a distinguished male character, the painting is monogrammed and dated at bottom left but we have not been able to identify. We think the portrait is definately British as the size of frame and canvas would suggest this. Both the frame and the picture are in excellent order, the canvas has not been relined.
