Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard, known by the pseudonym of J. J. Grandville. Illustrator, printmaker, painter, draughstman and caricaturist. Born in Nancy, he moved to Paris in 1825. He published different series of satires (pen lithographs to be hand-coloured) such as 'Les Métamorphoses du jour' and the 'Voyage pour l'éternité'. From 1830 until 1835 he became one ofthe main contributors to 'La Caricature' and 'Le Charivari
