Josep Moncada (Juaneda) was born in Mahon, Menorca in 1967 and trained as a painter at the Massana and Llotja Schools of Art in Barcelona under Rafel Jofre and Isidre Manils.

After studying at the art school La Massana in Barcelona, Josep Moncada decided to work exclusively as a visual artist.

The artworks are both sensual and seductive and offer a kind of subtle voyeurism. He likes to work with oil on canvas to create his beautiful paintings. With soft brush strokes, the artist creates images of scantily dressed or bathing women with a seemingly naive innocence. They draw the viewer into their spell and convey a feeling of an endless summer.

He has participated in group exhibitions in Barcelona, Madrid, Menorca and Mallorca, earning first prize at the Festes St. Bartomeu, Ferreries (2001) and was voted ‘favourite artist’ at the Premi St. Antoni, Menorca (2003), when he was also awarded a scholarship by the Talens España.
